This Blog

Welcome to my blog. From August 2011 to December 2011 I travelled through Namibia and felt at home enough to say I was temporarily living there. My main goal was to work on a research project on the Pangolin, but I also got plenty of safari time and took part in some other volunteer opportunities. On this blog I did my best to keep a detailed account of my experiences.

Otjiwarongo again

Got up at 5.30 this morning and drove to Otjiwarongo, where Martin dropped his kids at school and then dropped me at the C'est si Bon hotel. I had breakfast and have since been enjoying the wifi, waiting for Graham to pick me up. We'll go buy food before heading to Mundulea.

Yesterday I took Martin and his two kids up the hill again. We managed to find the path I had cut last time, and so got up very quickly. We also saw two Klipspringer, and antelope that lives on rocky hills. This time we went a bit further back on the peak to take a look at the other side. Eventually they left me on my own and I took advantage of the great cell phone reception up there. On the way down I was succesful in following the path for a short while, but lost it at the first 'cliff'. I followed a dry rocky riverbed which took me all the way down without running into any bush. There was a big rock face which I assume would be a water-fall in wetter times, and I clambered down nervously. It was maybe 20m high, and obviously I didnt have any ropes, but for once I was glad I had been rock-climbing earlier in my life.
Made it back before dark.
